Vinca minor
#3
  Re: (0...)
I planted vinca minor on a partially shady hillside last fall. It is supposed to be easy to grow but my plants have not really taken. I mulched around them and I am thinking that the vines can't start roots through the mulch. Any advice on how I can stimulate growth?

My understanding is that vinca minor can be relatively slow to establish. My best recommendation is to just make sure that you've got the soil/water/sun conditions as close to what the plant prefers, then just sit back and wait. And wait. Once established, it should grow faster. I don't think the mulch should be a problem. The vinca should be able to root through the mulch, unless it keeps washing downhill after every rainstorm. If that's the case, then you may be better off without the mulch.
The great thing about gardening is that you always get a chance to start over!
