So, I went out to my backyard today and noticed something was missing. My three Japanese painted ferns had been completely mowed down. There wasn't even anything sticking up from the ground. Now, I have 7 hostas surrounding the ferns and they haven't even been touched. I have never had a problem with deer or rabbits before (the plants have been doing just fine until this fall). We do have crazy squirrels and chipmunks, but they usually just move the plant to dig underneath them. What could be eating or "stealing" my plants?
