KnockOut Roses - foobazel - 11-05-2007 Winter is racing in soon and I want to prune my roses....they have really had a great season....and I don't want to be too harsh with them, but any advice on how far back to cut? And do they need some protection, like leaves or mulch or those white cone things? Many thanks! Re: KnockOut Roses - louv - 11-06-2007 i was told you should wait to spring to prune roses for they winter over better and then do it in the spring. We put a wrap around ours not to tight loose around just to give them some projection during the cold winter. We too put some leaves down around the bottom of the plant to not heavy. A cloth type wrap and then take that off in the spring when it is safe from getting a cold spell. I do not know where you live, but in Pa. and N.E. it is cold and snowy here. |
